Behavior "Clip Chart"
Miss Caiazzo’s Behavior Plan
Clip Chart
This year we will have a clip chart in order to track both positive and negative choices that were made in class. The chart is arranged into a series of colors and words as shown below. Outstanding Great Job Good Day Ready to Learn Think About It Teacher’s Choice Parent Contact It is important to me to have a chart that is not solely used for a negative reason. Students enjoy the opportunity to use it in a positive way. Everyone starts out on “Ready to Learn (green)”. As the day moves on they may “clip up” or “clip down” dependent upon their choices. A student may “clip down” if he/she is not following one of our classroom rules or expectations. If a student is on blue, it is a warning and they should reflect on their choice. If that student continues to make negative choices they will continue to clip down. Being on purple means it is the “Teacher’s Choice” and could be time off recess, time away from an activity, or filling out a reflection paper. All “Teacher’s Choice” are dependent on the choice that was made and the severity of it. On pink, a note will be sent home or a phone call or e-mail placed in order to let you know of the situation that occurred. Even if students are under the green, they always have the opportunity to “clip up” by making positive choices. Positive choices include: picking up litter they see, letting others pass through in line to walk, giving compliments, helping others, etc. So even if a student is on blue, they could move as high as they would like to, given the right choices. As a reward for those who are making positive choices, everyone who is on green or higher at the end of the day receives a sticker for their sticker chart. After 25 stickers, the student gets to redeem their chart for a prize from the treasure box. Additionally, anyone who ends up higher than green will receive a prize opportunity ticket daily. On yellow, students receive 1 ticket, on orange-2 tickets, on red- 3 tickets, and super great choices after red, mean I clip the clip on me and the student receives 4 tickets. At the end of the month I choose 1 ticket for a special prize. Any student on red by the end of the day will receive a positive letter, e-mail, or phone call home.

These dollars can be redeemed for treats, toys, and other trinkets at the Osprey Store.
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Instructional hours are 8:45-3:15
The school gates open at 8:20. Please do no drop your student off before 8:20, there will be no adult available to watch the students. Starting at 8:20 students will be able to go to the cafeteria (if they need breakfast) or will be supervised by staff until class starts at 8:45.
If a student arrives after 8:45 they will receive a tardy. (click here for full attendance policies)
At 3:15 students will be dismissed in waves depending on how they get home -- buses, cars, walkers/bikers separately. It is important that your child (and the school) knows how they will get home. In Communication is key at the beginning of the year during dismissal. If your child is going home a different way on a certain date please send in a note with your child. If a note is not provided, your child will go home the way they are usually dismissed as safety is our number one concern.
